She remained unmarried and had no children and died at the Ducal Palace of Sassuolo in Modena.

Princess Benedetta d'Este (1697 – 1777) was the first child of Duke Rinaldo d'Este and Duchess Charlotte of Brunswick-Lüneburg. Highly educated in the courts of Italy, Benedetta would meet James Stewart, the Jacobite claimant to the throne of the United Kingdom of Great Britain after they met in Modena in 1717.
