Queen Borena. Borena (Georgian: ბორენა) was a sister of the Alan king Durgulel "the Great", and the Queen consort of Georgia, as the second wife of Bagrat IV (r. 1027–1072). The medieval Georgian historical tradition provides little information about Borena.

Alania was a medieval kingdom of the Iranian Alans (Proto-Ossetians) that flourished between the 9th–13th centuries in the Northern Caucasus, roughly in the location of latter-day Circassia, Chechnya, Ingushetia, and modern North Ossetia–Alania.

Borena was the sister of Dorgoleli, the ruler of Alania (C. Toumanoff, Les dynasties de la Caucasie chrétienne de l'Antiquité jusqu'au XIXe siècle. Rome 1990, 134-135). The princess Mart'a became Maria perhaps at the marriage.
