22 de abr. de 2024 · Her Majesty The Queen’s late father, Major Bruce Shand, then a subaltern in A Squadron, won an MC for gallantry during the battle. Her Majesty wrote the foreword to the book. The Queen will view her late father’s tunic, which is to be put on public display at the Regimental Museum in Derby, following its purchase at auction by the Regiment.

22 de abr. de 2024 · Major Shand, who died in June 2006, was commissioned into the 12th Royal Lancers in 1937 after graduating from Sandhurst. It was an emotional day for Queen Camilla, who earlier today visited The Royal Lancers – the regiment with which her future father served – in North Yorkshire for the first time since her appointment as Colonel-in-Chief.
