Buckhurst Hill County High School had an outstanding reputation in Essex and the UK during its 50 years of existence. Despite having closed in 1989 the former pupils and members of staff can keep in contact with each other through this site.

It was near to RAF Chigwell and the River Roding . In 1953 there were 549 boys and the staff consisted of the headmaster and nineteen assistant masters. Comprehensive.

History. Buckhurst Hill County High School opened its doors on 15 th September 1938. A shiny new grammar school sitting in the Roding Valley, half way between the railway stations of Buckhurst Hill and Chigwell. Just over 50 years later, having undergone a transformation to comprehensive education during the mid 1970s, the school closed in 1989.
