Cölln (German:) was the twin city of Old Berlin from the 13th century to the 18th century. Cölln was located on the Fisher Island section of Spree Island, opposite Altberlin on the western bank of the River Spree , until the cities were merged by Frederick I of Prussia to form Berlin in 1710.

Los primeros dos asentamientos del Berlín actual eran Cölln, en la actual isla de los museos y Berlín, en la orilla norte del río Spree. Ambos asentamientos fueron fundados en el siglo XIII: Cölln fue mencionada por primera vez el 28 de octubre de 1237. Esta fue la fecha adoptada para el día de la fundación de Berlín.
Ya en el trono con el nombre de Federico I de Prusia, unificó en 1709 las ciudades de Berlín, Cölln, Friedrichswerder, Dorotheenstadt y Friedrichsstadt, que entre todas formaron Berlín, capital y sede real.
30 de mar. de 2012 · The center of Cölln was situated around today's Petriplatz, south of what is now Schlossplatz on Berlin's Museum Island. A church, a cemetery, a fish market and the town hall all stood on the site.

The original part of Berlin includes Spree Island (the former Cölln) with Museum Island and the Fischerinsel (Fisher Island), Alt-Berlin with the Nikolaiviertel (Nicolas' Quarter), as well as Friedrichswerder and Neu-Cölln (not to be confused with the district of Neukölln).
