The Canterbury varsity baseball program is a member of the Western New England Prep Baseball League. The league is divided into an Eastern “Cleary” Division and Western “Young” Division. Canterbury competes in the Young Division against Salisbury, Gunnery, Berkshire and Millbrook.
EJ Soifersmith first came to Canterbury as the head coach of Varsity Volleyball in 2005 while working as the Director of Neighborhood Services at Community Action Committee of Danbury. Soon after, she became the School's Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Student Activities.

In 1995, the Connecticut General Assembly designated Prudence Crandall as the state's official heroine because she opened the first school in the United States for black girls. The school still stands in Canterbury, operating as the Prudence Crandall Museum .
