Casale Monferrato (Italian pronunciation: [kaˈzaːle moɱferˈraːto]) is a town in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy, in the province of Alessandria. It is situated about 60 km (37 mi) east of Turin on the right bank of the Po , where the river runs at the foot of the Montferrat hills.

Casale Monferrato is a town in the Piedmont region in Italy, in the province of Alessandria. It is situated about 60 km (37 mi) east of Turin on the right bank of the Po, where the river runs at the foot of the Montferrat hills. Beyond the river lies the vast plain of the Po valley.
Sus orígenes se remontan al siglo VIII. Es una pena que al estar rodeado de edificios no se aprecie su total belleza. Una vez superada la entrada nos encontramos en el sugestivo atrio, rarísimo y a la vez grandioso. La bóveda tiene nueve arcos (un desafío a la estática). Este tipo de atrio es único en Italia y tiene influencia islámica y armenia.
