Catherine, Lady Walpole (née Shorter; 1682 – 20 August 1737) was the first wife of the first British prime minister Sir Robert Walpole.

Catherine, Lady Walpole. Dahl's half-length painting of Sir Robert's wife Catherine shows the sitter as a young woman and hangs today at Houghton Hall today. In actuality, Lady Walpole did not feel comfortable at Houghton and preferred her house on Dover Street, London.
7 de may. de 2024 · Catherine, Lady Walpole, wife of Sir Robert Walpole, Viscount Walpole and Baron Houghton, has a white marble memorial in the south aisle of Henry VII's chapel in Westminster Abbey. The square plinth is by sculptor J.M. Rysbrack surmounted by a copy of a Roman statue of Modesty by F. della Valle.
On 30 July 1700, Walpole married Catherine Shorter (1682–1737), the eldest daughter and co-heiress of John Shorter of Bybrook in Ashford, Kent (the son of Sir John Shorter (1625–1688), Lord Mayor of London) by his wife Elizabeth Philipps (born c. 1664), a daughter of Sir Erasmus Philipps, 3rd Baronet.
Overlooking this monument is a beautiful piece of sculpture, also the work of an Italian artist, named Valory, to the memory of Catherine, Lady Walpole.
Maria, Lady Walpole (née Skerret, Skerritt, or Skerrett; 1702 – 4 June 1738) was the second wife of British politician and Prime Minister Robert Walpole from before 3 March 1738 until her death in childbirth (miscarriage) three months later.
