Catherine de Parthenay, Viscountess and Princess of Rohan (1554–1631) was a French noblewoman, mathematician, philosopher, poet, playwright, and translator. [3] [4] She studied with the mathematician François Viète and was considered one of the most brilliant women of the era.
The House of Rohan ( Breton: Roc'han) is a Breton family of viscounts, later dukes and princes in the French nobility, coming from the locality of Rohan in Brittany. Their line descends from the viscounts of Porhoët and is said to trace back to the legendary Conan Meriadoc.

He married Catherine de Rohan (1425–1471), daughter of Alain IX de Rohan and Marguerite de Dreux, dame de Guillac. Catherine de Parthenay (Mouchamps, Francia, 22 de marzo de 1554 - Mouchamps, 26 de octubre de 1631) fue una noble y matemática francesa. [1] Estudió con el matemático François Viète y fue considerada una de las mujeres más brillantes de la época.
Catherine de Rohan was born 20 June 1578 to René II de Rohan (c1550-1586) and Catherine de Parthenay (1554-1631) and died 10 May 1607 Zweibrücken of unspecified causes. She married Johann II. von Pfalz-Zweibrücken (1584-1635) 26 August 1604 in Château du Parc.
