Charles Sloane Cadogan, 1st Earl Cadogan (29 September 1728 – 3 April 1807) was a British peer and Whig politician. Early life. Cadogan was the only son of Charles Cadogan, 2nd Baron Cadogan and his wife, the former Elizabeth Sloane. [1] His maternal grandparents were Elisabeth (née Langley) Sloane and Sir Hans Sloane, 1st Baronet. [2] .

An accomplished soldier and diplomat, he rose to be the Duke of Marlborough’s Quartermaster General during the War of the Spanish Succession and was later promoted to Lieutenant General (1709) and Master-General of the Ordnance (1722).
Lieutenant-General William Cadogan, 1st Earl Cadogan KT, PC (c. 1671-1726) was an Irish-born British Army officer. He began his active military service during the Williamite War in Ireland in 1689 and ended it with the suppression of the 1715 Jacobite Rebellion .
