Garter-encircled arms of Charles Lennox, 4th Duke of Richmond, KG, PC. He became the 4th Duke of Richmond on 29 December 1806, after the death of his uncle, Charles Lennox, 3rd Duke of Richmond. In April 1807 he became Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. He remained in that post until 1813.

[1] The fourth creation of the dukedom of Richmond was in August 1675, when Charles II granted the title to Charles Lennox, his illegitimate son by Louise de Keroualle, Duchess of Portsmouth. Charles Lennox was further created Duke of Lennox a month later.

Lennox, Charles . . He was educated privately by a Mr Kempson. Following his father into the army, he joined the Sussex militia and was gazetted captain in 1780. Through the influence of his uncle Charles Lennox, 3rd duke of Richmond, he rose rapidly, and on 26 March 1789 became a captain in the Coldstream foot guards.
