But he fled to Scotland after the disaster of Towton (1461) and was then attainted and condemned to forfeiture.

Hace 4 días · In 1549 the manor descended to Henry Somerset's son William (d. 1589) who held it in 1574. Edward Somerset (d. 1628) was seised of possessions formerly belonging to Tintern Abbey to the value of £20, which passed to his son Henry Somerset, created Marquess of Worcester in 1643.
Hace 6 días · Lost to him, through his debts, the house ultimately passed (1674) into the hands of the trustees for George Digby, Earl of Bristol, and his Countess sold it in 1682 to Henry, Marquess of Worcester, afterwards Duke of Beaufort, the house remaining in his family until 1720.
