  2. Hace 5 días · In 1582 it passed to the Stanhope family, and in 1605 Sir John Stanhope was created Lord Stanhope of Harrington. He died in 1620 and the manor descended to his son Charles who died without issue in 1675.

Charles Wyndham, the 7th Earl, was therefore in possession of the freehold when in 1867–8 he moved to the house vacated by the Sun Fire Office. He died there in 1881. Earl of Harrington
