Charlotte Brabantina of Nassau was born on 17 September 1580 as the fifth daughter of William the Silent and his third wife, Charlotte of Bourbon. She was born in Antwerp and was baptised on 25 October, and for the occasion, she was given a stipend of 2,000 guilders per year.

In 1580 werd Charlotte Brabantina geboren en als laatste in de rij Emilia II in het jaar 1581.In Antwerpen werd door Jean Jeareguy een aanslag gepleegd op Willem van Oranje deze werd hierbij gewond. Hij werd zeer liefdevol en plichtgetrouw verzorgd door zijn vrouw Charlotte de Bourbon , zij stierf echter in 1582, mede omdat deze verzorging veel inspanningen van haar lichaam vroeg.
