  6. Charlotte was born on 5th September 1664 and, unlike some of her younger brothers and sisters, Charles was sure of his paternity and she was given the surname FitzRoy from birth. Along with her brother’s Henry and George, she spent several years at Berkshire House, in the care of a governess, and later lived with her mother in Paris for two years before her marriage.
