Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1744–1818), queen of George III. Though Charlotte was chosen unseen from lists of German princesses in 1761, her marriage to George III proved a great success. She was considered by many to be rather dull and distinctly plain, but George was devoted to her and their routine domestic life set a pattern for the future.
