Count of Boulogne. Count of Boulogne was a historical title in the Kingdom of France. The city of Boulogne-sur-Mer became the centre of the county of Boulogne during the ninth century. Little is known of the early counts, but the first holder of the title is recorded in the 11th century.
The County of Boulogne was a county within the Kingdom of France during the 9th to 15th centuries, centred on the city of Boulogne-sur-Mer. It was ruled by the counts of Flanders in the 10th century, but a separate House of Boulogne emerged during the 11th century. [1]

Eustace was the elder son of Count Baldwin II of Boulogne and Adelina of Holland. He succeeded his father as count of Boulogne in 1024. Eustace was also the count of Lens. 22 de feb. de 2023 · Eustace IV, the Count of Boulogne, was a fascinating figure in 12th-century Anglo-Norman history. The eldest son of King Stephen of England and Countess Matilda I of Boulogne, he was born around 1130 and reigned over the County of Boulogne from 1146 until his untimely death in 1153 at the young age of 23.
Built in 1226 by Philippe Hurepel, the Count of Boulogne and the (illegitimate) son of King Philippe-Auguste, it was one of the strongest castles in the region. A castle built for defence. The Count’s Castle in Boulogne-sur-Mer has been remodelled several times and still stands today in fabulous testament to the medieval history of Boulonnais.
