Craigflower House in Torryburn near Dunfermline, Scotland was built in 1860 by David Bryce who designed Fettes College and the Bank of Scotland headquarters on The Mound in Edinburgh. In 1923 the building was converted to Craigflower Preparatory School as an independent preparatory school for boys.

THE CRAIGFLOWER SCHOOLHOUSE – A History up to 1958. Situated just three miles from Victoria’s City Hall, on the banks of the Gorge waters, stands a white building, a reminder of the first pioneers of the district. This building is the original Craigflower schoolhouse, the oldest school still standing in Western Canada.
Constructed in 1854 by the Colony of Vancouver Island for the children of nearby Craigflower Farm and the surrounding area, this school is a significant monument to the early educational system in British Columbia, which was based on the principle of free non-sectarian education for all.
