Hace 3 días · Eastchurch undoubtedly became Britain’s major naval airfield at this time until Cranwell arose in 1916. Earlier wartime days also meant an offensive force had to be quickly gathered, and this resulted in the famous Eastchurch Squadron forming under Charles Samson.

Hace 5 días · In Iraq, between 1920 and 1932, the RAF exercised military control of the country with a force of eight squadrons of aircraft and two or three companies of armoured cars. To train permanent officers for the flying branch of the service, a cadet college was established at Cranwell, Lincolnshire, in 1920.

Hace 2 días · He entered RAF College Cranwell in January 1929 as a Flight Cadet. He graduated in December 1930 with a permanent commission and joined 54 Squadron at Hornchurch. In March 1932 Hogan was posted to the Fleet Air Arm at Leuchars. On 9th November he joined 404 (Fleet Fighter) Flight at Netheravon, operating at sea from HMS Courageous.
Hace 5 días · The most senior officer on parade for the UK Armed Forces was Air Commodore Andrew Dickens OBE, Commandant RAF College Cranwell. Others laid wreaths, including the UK’s ambassador to Poland Anna Clunes and Australian Ambassador Benjamin Hayes. Defence and Political representitives from all sides of the conflict eighty years ago paid their respects.
