Cyd Charisse (March 8, 1922 – June 17, 2008) was an American actress and dancer. She was known for her roles in Singin' in the Rain (1952), The Band Wagon (1953) and Silk Stockings (1957). Charisse was born in Amarillo, Texas. She was married to Tony Martin .

As a teenager, she was enrolled in ballet classes in Hollywood, and later joined the Ballet Russe dance company.
