Dafydd ap Llywelyn (c. March 1212 – 25 February 1246) was Prince of Gwynedd from 1240 to 1246.

DAFYDD ap LLYWELYN (died 1246), prince. The only son of Llywelyn ap Iorwerth by his wife Joan, natural daughter of king John. As such, he was regarded from his birth, about 1208, as the heir to the strong principality which his father was building up.
Llywelyn ab Iorwerth ( pronounced [ɬəˈwɛlɪn ab ˈjɔrwɛrθ], c. 1173 – 11 April 1240), [2] [3] also known as Llywelyn the Great ( Welsh: Llywelyn Fawr, [ɬəˈwɛlɪn vaʊ̯r] ), was a medieval Welsh ruler. He succeeded his uncle, Dafydd ab Owain Gwynedd, as King of Gwynedd in 1195. By a combination of war and diplomacy he dominated Wales for 45 years. [4]

Dafydd ap Llywelyn (c.1208–46), prince of Gwynedd (1240–6). The only son of Llywelyn ab Iorwerth, prince of Gwynedd, and Joan, daughter of King John, he was declared heir to his father's principality.
Llywelyn ap Dafydd (c.1267–1287), potential claimant to the title Prince of Gwynedd, was the eldest son of Dafydd ap Gruffydd, the last free ruler of Gwynedd, and his wife Elizabeth Ferrers. Nothing is known of his early life, though it is thought he was probably born some time around 1267.
The only legitimate son of Llywelyn the Great, Dafydd was intended by his father to inherit all his territories. The succession was guaranteed by Henry III (1220), the pope (1222) and the Welsh nobility (1226, 1238), but there was tension with Dafydd's elder brother, Gruffydd, who was illegitimate.
