The Defence Helicopter Flying School ( DHFS) was a military flying school based at RAF Shawbury in Shropshire, England. The school, established in 1997, was a tri-service organisation and trained helicopter aircrews for all three British armed forces.

2 de ene. de 2015 · In Apr 2018, 670 Squadron was subsumed by the newly reformed 9 Regiment AAC to go on delivering flying training for the Defence Helicopter Flying School (DHFS) later to become 1 Flying Training School (1FTS) at RAF Shawbury under the new UK Military Flying Training System (UK MFTS).
5 de feb. de 2024 · The Defence Helicopter Flying School formed at RAF Shawbury to consolidate the helicopter training of all three services. 2 Flight Training Squadron of the RAF, 705 Naval Air Squadron and 670 Army Air Corps Squadron amalgamated in the new School.

New simulators, training aircraft and buildings are all part of the upgrade at RAF Shawbury which is now considered a world-leader in its field.

22 de abr. de 2024 · The UK Ministry of Defence has signed a 122-million euro ($152 million) contract with Airbus to order six additional H145 helicopters. The new aircraft will be used in the military’s emergency response missions in Cyprus and jungle warfare training in Brunei. All six aircraft will replace the UK’s older Puma helicopters, which are being phased out.
In February 2020, the Defence Helicopter Flying School based at RAF Shawbury in Shropshire, was renamed No. 1 Flying Training School and operates 29 Airbus H135 'Juno' and 3 Airbus H145 'Jupiter'.
