The Delhi Durbar (lit. "Court of Delhi") was an Indian imperial-style mass assembly organized by the British at Coronation Park, Delhi, India, to mark the succession of an Emperor or Empress of India. Also known as the Imperial Durbar, it was held three times, in 1877, 1903, and 1911, at the height of the British Empire.
Coronation Park, Delhi. Coordinates: 28°43′23″N 77°11′49″E. Coronation Park is a park located at Burari Road near Nirankari Sarovar ( Formless Lake) in Delhi, India. It was the venue of the Delhi Durbar of 1877 when Queen Victoria was proclaimed the Empress of India.

The Delhi Durbars were grand events organised by the Viceroys to mark the coronations of Emperors or Empresses. Hence, these were also known as the Coronation Durbars. Durbar which means a ‘court of a ruler’ in Persian was adopted by the British from the Mughals. The idea was to come across to the people of India as the’ heirs of the Mughals’.

The Coronation Durbar Park was set up by INTACH in 2011 as a tribute to the various historic celebrations held at this site. Also known as the Coronation Memorial, it was the venue of the Delhi Durbar in 1877 after Queen Victoria was declared the Empress of India.
