Duchess Marie Louise of Mecklenburg-Schwerin ( German: Herzogin Marie Luise Friederike Alexandrine Elisabeth Charlotte Catherine Mecklenburg-Schwerin; 31 March 1803 – 26 October 1862) was the Duchess of Saxe-Altenburg.
Life in Russia. Marie lived at the Vladimir Palace situated on the Palace Embankment on the Neva River. Marie was famous for being one of the best hostesses in the capital. During the reign of her nephew Emperor Nicholas II, her Grand Ducal court was the most cosmopolitan and popular one in the capital.

Duchess Marie Louise of Mecklenburg-Schwerin was the Duchess of Saxe-Altenburg. She was daughter of Frederick Louis, Hereditary Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, and Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna of Russia. In 1825, she married Georg, Duke of Saxe-Altenburg, and became his consort.
Duchess Marie and Prince Julius Ernst were married on 11 August 1914 in Neustrelitz shortly after the outbreak of the First World War.

12 de jun. de 2020 · It wasn’t until 2 May 1874 that they unofficially became engaged as it was finally agreed that she would not have to convert to Russian Orthodoxy. Marie arrived in St. Petersburg on 27 August 1874 with her father, stepmother and her two brothers. The wedding itself took place on 28 August in the court church of the Winter Palace.
