Duke Christian Louis of Mecklenburg ( German: Christian-Ludwig Herzog zu Mecklenburg; 29 September 1912 – 18 July 1996) was the second son of the last reigning Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Frederick Francis IV . He inherited Mecklenburg-Schwerin when his father died on 27 February 1658. In 1660, he built a Lustschloss near the Ratzeburg Minster. He travelled to Paris in 1662, to the court of Louis XIV. On 29 September 1663, he converted to the Catholic faith. The next day, his godfather Louis XIV gave him the second name Louis.

On 5 July 1954 in Glücksburg Christian Louis married in a civil marriage, Princess Barbara of Prussia daughter of Prince Sigismund of Prussia. They married in a religious ceremony on 11 July 1954. They had two daughters. Duchess Donata of Mecklenburg (b. 11 March 1956) married Alexander von Solodkoff and had issue.

Louis married 13 May 1755 at Schwerin to Princess Charlotte Sophie of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld (1731–1810), daughter of Francis Josias, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, and his wife, Princess Anna Sophie of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt. Christian Ludwig II of Mecklenburg (15 May 1683 – 30 May 1756) was the Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin from 1747 to 1756. He was the son of Frederick, Duke of Mecklenburg-Grabow, and Landravine Christine Wilhelmine of Hesse-Homburg. Mecklenburg-Schwerin began its existence during a series of constitutional struggles between the duke and the nobles.
