Philipp, Duke of Württemberg (30 July 1838 – 11 October 1917) was a German prince, head of the Roman Catholic cadet branch of the dynasty which ruled the Kingdom of Württemberg . Biography. He was the son of Duke Alexander and of Princess Marie d'Orléans, a daughter of Louis Philippe, King of the French. [1] .

This branch is extant, but as the Teck branch, it is not considered dynastic because of the morganatic marriage of Duke William Frederick Philip to Baroness Wilhelmine von Tunderfedt-Rhodes in 1800. The first Duke was created a "Serene Highness" in the 1860s. The current head of this branch is Wilhelm Albert, Duke of Urach.
The 1st King was King Frederick I (1754-1816) who ruled since 1797. After taking the title of King, he raised his children to the title of Prince & Princess whilst the rest of his family kept the title of Duke & Duchess of Württemberg. He was 211cms (6ft 11in) tall and obese whereas his contemporary, Napoleon Bonaparte was only 169cm tall.
