    Ernst II Bernhard Georg Johann Karl Frederick Peter Albert, Duke of Saxe-Altenburg (31 August 1871 in Altenburg – 22 March 1955 in Trockenborn-Wolfersdorf) was the last reigning duke of Saxe-Altenburg.

    He was the fourth child and only son of Prince Moritz, the youngest son of Georg, Duke of Saxe-Altenburg and Princess Augusta of Saxe-Meiningen. He is buried in the Ducal Cemetery in Trockenborn-Wolfersdorf alongside his second wife. He was the only former German ruler who was a citizen of the German Democratic Republic, and the last surviving sovereign from the German Empire.
