Dunhill Records was started in 1964 by Lou Adler, Jay Lasker, Pierre Cossette and Bobby Roberts as Dunhill Productions to release the music of Johnny Rivers on Imperial Records. It became a record label the following year and was distributed by ABC Records.

Dunhill Records. The Dunhill label was formed in 1965 by Lou Adler. From 1965 till about 1975, there were approximately 200 albums were released. The first one was by The Rincon Surfside Band titled “Surfside Songbook” as Dunhill D 50001/DS 50001; and the last one was by Murphys Law titled “Urban Renewal” as Dunhill DSD 50194.
9 followers. Beginning as a production company to release Johnny Rivers recordings through Imperial Records in 1964, Dunhill became a full-fledged label a year later. Their distributor, ABC-Paramount, bought the label in 1966, and put their logo next to Dunhill's on their releases.
