  1. 27 de abr. de 2022 · Edgar Ætheling (also spelt Æþeling, Aetheling, Atheling or Etheling)[1] or Edgar II (c. 1051 – c. 1126) was the last male member of the royal house of Cerdic of Wessex (see House of Wessex family tree). He was proclaimed, but never crowned, King of England in 1066.

There is no evidence that Edgar married or produced children apart from two mysterious references to an 'Edgar Adeling' found in the Magnus Rotulus Pipae Northumberland (Pipe rolls) for the years 1158 and 1167.

His father was the son of Edmund II Ironside, king of England in 1016; Edward’s grandfather was, therefore, Ӕthelred II (the Unready) and his uncle was Edward the Confessor, England’s king from 1042 until 1066.

Edgar remained unmarried and never produced any children. He lived until c.1126 (Aged 75). Edgar was the last living male member of the Anglo-Saxon royalty. See also.
