Sir Lewis Pollard, made one of the Justices of the Court of Common Pleas in 1515, was son of Robert, second son of John Pollard (which John was son of the heiress of Cornu). Sir Lewis purchased Kings Nympton, and built the family seat there. Lewis Pollard, Esq., his immediate descendant, was created a baronet in 1627.
