Edmund Sheffield, 2nd Duke of Buckingham and Normanby (11 January 1716 – 30 October 1735) was an English nobleman, styled Marquess of Normanby from 1716 to 1721. [1] Through his mother, Catherine Sheffield , he was a grandson of King James II .

Edmund, who succeeded his father as 2nd Duke of Buckingham, was baptised at St Margaret's Westminster on 29th January 1716 and served in Germany with his uncle. He died of consumption in Rome on 30th October 1735 and his body was returned to the Abbey for burial in the family vault on 31st January 1736.
On the death of the 2nd Duke of Buckingham and Normanby in 1735, the titles became extinct. The Sheffield family estates passed to the 2nd Duke's half-brother Charles Herbert Sheffield, the illegitimate son of the 1st Duke by Frances Stewart. He was created a Baronet in 1755 and is the ancestor of the Sheffield Baronets, of Normanby.
