Now it was not going to be simply a matter of who was going to be the King of England, but it was a war of revenge.

29 de abr. de 2024 · Henry Beaufort was the eldest surviving son of Edmund Beaufort, duke of Somerset and his wife Eleanor Beauchamp. Following his father’s death at the Battle of St. Albans in 1455, Henry inherited the dukedom. Through his father, Henry was a descendant of John of Gaunt, and thus was a Lancastrian supporter throughout the conflict.
25 de abr. de 2024 · A stand-off took place south of London, with the Duke of York presenting a list of grievances and demands to the court circle, including the arrest of Edmund Beaufort, Duke of Somerset. The king initially agreed, but Margaret intervened to prevent the arrest of Beaufort. By 1453, Somerset's influence had been restored, and York was again isolated.
Hace 2 días · Answer: attainder. Alice Montacute, Countess of Salisbury, was the only woman attainted during the so-called Parliament of Devils in 1459. She was found guilty of treason along with her husband, son and brother-in-law, the Duke of York. She had mostly likely been raising troops in the north of England on her husband's behalf.
