After his execution, the next claimant was Edmund de la Pole, Earl of Suffolk. He was the brother of the Earl of Lincoln who had been killed in the attempted Simnel Rebellion. Therefore, his family did have a reputation of betrayal to live with.

  3. Edmund de la Pole was the 3rd Duke of Suffolk, born in England in 1471. He was a Yorkist claimant to the throne and succeeded to the title Duke of Suffolk in 1492. Although he initially swore loyalty to the Tudor king of England, the Poles later tried to claim the throne as the Yorkist claimant. Edmund was ultimately executed at the Tower of London on 30 April 1513.

  6. John de la Pole was born on 27 September 1442, only son and heir to William de la Pole, 1st Duke of Suffolk, and Alice Chaucer, the granddaughter of the poet Geoffrey Chaucer. John was therefore still only a child of seven when, on 7 February 1450, he was married to the six-year-old Lady Margaret Beaufort , though the Papal dispensation to marry was not signed until 18 August 1450.
