Prince Frederick Henry Eugen. Frederick Henry Eugen of Anhalt-Dessau (27 December 1705 in Dessau – 2 March 1781 in Dessau), was a German prince of the House of Ascania from the Anhalt-Dessau branch. He was the fourth son of Leopold I, Prince of Anhalt-Dessau, by his morganatic wife Anna Louise Föhse .
Prince Ernst August was born at Dresden, Kingdom of Saxony, the second child and first son of Prince Julius Ernst of Lippe (1873–1952; son of Ernst, Count of Lippe-Biesterfeld and Countess Caroline von Wartensleben) and his wife, Duchess Marie of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1878–1948; daughter of Adolphus Frederick V, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and his wife Princess Elisabeth of Anhalt).
Less than one year after the birth of his daughter, Leopold died unexpectedly in Cannes on 2 February 1886. As he had no sons, he was succeeded as Hereditary prince by his younger brother Frederick who would eventually become Duke Frederick II of Anhalt. Princess Elisabeth never remarried and survived her husband by almost 70 years.
From 1561 until 1603 Anhalt-Dessau was under the rule of the Prince of Anhalt-Zerbst, and in 1603 Anhalt-Dessau was recreated, being raised to a duchy in 1807. Anhalt-Köthen became extinct on the death of the Duke of Anhalt-Köthen, 23 November 1847, and its territories were united to Anhalt-Dessau by Patent of 22 May 1853. [1]
Bernhard VII of Anhalt-Zerbst (17 March 1540 – 1 March 1570), was a German prince of the House of Ascania and ruler of the principality of Anhalt-Zerbst. He was born and died in Dessau , and was the third and youngest son of John V, Prince of Anhalt-Zerbst by his wife Margaret , daughter of Joachim I Nestor, Elector of Brandenburg .
