Edward Bruce, Earl of Carrick (Norman French: Edward de Brus; Middle Irish: Edubard a Briuis; Modern Scottish Gaelic: Scottish Gaelic: Eideard or Iomhair Bruis; c. 1280 – 14 October 1318), was a younger brother of Robert the Bruce, King of Scots.

(Nothing less!). He landed in Ireland in 1315 at the head of a Scottish and Irish army. He also found the support of many Irish lords and clans. Backed by his troops, he led a campaign lasting over 3 years (known as the Bruce Invasion), designed to deliver Ireland from the English yoke.

Edward Bruce was an outstanding if savage soldier, but arrogant and over-ambitious. As soon as Robert I took the throne in 1306, Edward became one of his foremost commanders.
