Edward Charles Pickering (Boston, Massachusetts, 19 de julio de 1846-Cambridge, Massachusetts, 3 de febrero de 1919) fue un astrónomo estadounidense, cuarto director del Observatorio de Harvard (Harvard College Observatory). Era hermano del también astrónomo William Henry Pickering (1858-1935).

Edward Charles Pickering (July 19, 1846 – February 3, 1919) was an American astronomer and physicist and the older brother of William Henry Pickering. Along with Carl Vogel, Pickering discovered the first spectroscopic binary stars. He wrote Elements of Physical Manipulations (2 vol., 1873–76).

Edward Charles Pickering (19 de julio de 1846 - 3 de febrero de 1919) fue un astrónomo y físico estadounidense y hermano mayor de William Henry Pickering. Junto con Carl Vogel, Pickering descubrió las primeras estrellas binarias espectroscópicas. Escribió Elementos de manipulaciones físicas (2 vol., 1873-1876).
Inventor del fotómetro meridiano, con el que realizó más de 1.400.000 mediciones de magnitudes de estrellas. Su trabajo en el observatorio de Harvard ha quedado registrado en más de 250.000 fotografías de estrellas. Escribió Elementos de manipulaciones físicas (1873-1876).

He taught physics for ten years at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he built the first instructional physics laboratory in the United States.
