Following Crossfire, Mitchum starred in Out of the Past (also called Build My Gallows High), widely regarded as one of the greatest of all films noir.

7 de may. de 2024 · In the late 1940s Dassin suffered a major career setback after director Edward Dmytryk told the House Un-American Activities Committee that he was a Communist (Dassin had left the party in 1939). Blacklisted, Dassin fled to England, where he made one of his best movies, Night and the City (1950).
1 de may. de 2024 · In the 1947 post-war noir film Crossfire, produced by RKO Pictures and directed by Edward Dmytryk, one character asks another, “What sort of an artist are you?” The man answers, “I did a mural once in a post office for the WPA.” The other replies, “Oh, a lot of fine artists came from there.”
