Edward Seymour, primer conde de Hertford (22 de mayo de 1539 – 1621), en 1559 creó Earl de Hertford y Barón Beauchamp de Hatch por la reina Isabel I, hermana del rey Eduardo VI. Se casó tres veces: primero en noviembre de 1560, Lady Catherine Grey, por quien tenía dos hijos; segundo en 1582 a Frances Howard, hija del Barón Howard de Effingham; tercero en 1601 a Frances Prannell.

He was the eldest son of the second marriage of Edward Seymour, 1st Duke of Somerset (c.1500-1552), Lord Protector of England on behalf of his nephew Edward VI, to Anne Stanhope (c.1497-1587), Sir Edward Stanhope (1462–1511) and Elizabeth Bourchier (c.1473–1557), the latter being the daughter of Fulk Bourchier, X Baron FitzWarin (1445–1479).
