Hans Lindenov var en af landets største godsejere og sad også på flere af Kronens vigtigste len. Hans søn, Hans Lindenov den Yngre, overtog Søndergaarde foruden en række andre herregårde. Hans Lindenov var gift med Christian IV's datter med Kirsten Munk, Elisabeth Augusta.
