Elisabeth Christine followed her husband to Spain, where Charles agitated against his adversary Philip of Anjou in pressing his claim to the Spanish throne, albeit with varying success. After the sudden death of his brother Joseph (1711) Charles also inherited the Austrian Monarchy and became a candidate for the imperial throne.

Isabel Cristina de Brunsvique-Volfembutel (em alemão: Elisabeth Christine von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel); Brunsvique, 28 de agosto de 1691 – Viena, 21 de dezembro de 1750) foi Princesa de Brunsvique-Volfembutel e como a esposa do Imperador Carlos VI, Imperatriz Consorte do Sacro Império Romano-Germânico e Rainha Consorte da Hungria, Croácia e Boêmia e das outras possessões austríacas.
Elisabeth Christine van Brunswijk-Wolfenbüttel, ( Braunschweig, 28 augustus 1691 - Wenen, 21 december 1750) was de oudste dochter van hertog Lodewijk Rudolf van Brunswijk-Wolfenbüttel en Christine Luise von Öttingen. In 1708 werd ze de echtgenote van de Oostenrijkse aartshertog Karel van Habsburg, de latere keizer Karel VI.
