On May 11, 1628, Dorothea was appointed adjutant of Quedlinburg Monastery by her sister Dorothea Sophie, whose aunt Maria had been abbot of the monastery since before 1610. In 1633, Dorothea left the convent and she married Albert IV, Duke of Saxe-Eisenach (1599-1644) in Weimar on June 24.

Early life and family. Princess Charlotte was born on 11 September 1751. She was the eldest child and daughter of Anton Ulrich, Duke of Saxe-Meiningen and his second wife, Landgravine Charlotte Amalie of Hesse-Philippsthal. Charlotte was an elder sister of Charles William, Duke of Saxe-Meiningen and George I, Duke of Saxe-Meiningen .
Elisabeth Dorothea of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (b. Coburg, 8 January 1640 - d. Butzbach, 24 August 1709), was a German princess member of the House of Wettin in the Ernestine branch of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg, by marriage Landgravine of Hesse-Darmstadt and Landgravine-Regent during 1678-1688.
He was under the guardianship of his mother, Elisabeth Dorothea of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg until 1688. Dorothea Charlotte was a pietist and exerted some influence upon the affairs of state in favour of the pietists in the first years of her marriage.
