Maria Christina of Saxony. Elisabeth of Savoy (Maria Francesca Elisabetta Carlotta Giuseppina; 13 April 1800 – 25 December 1856) was the Vicereine of the Kingdom of Lombardy–Venetia by marriage to Archduke Rainer Joseph of Austria. She was the aunt and mother-in-law of Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of a united Italy.
Life. Elisabeth was born in Birkenfeld, the daughter of Frederick III, Elector Palatine, and his wife, Marie of Brandenburg-Kulmbach. Elisabeth was the third child of the couple and the second to reached adulthood. On 12 June 1558 in Weimar, Elisabeth married John Frederick II, Duke of Saxony, eldest son of John Frederick I, Elector of Saxony.

Elizabeth of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden (24 June 1485 – 10 June 1555) was a Danish princess who became Electress of Brandenburg as the spouse of Joachim I Nestor, Elector of Brandenburg. She was the daughter of King Hans of Denmark, Norway and Sweden and his spouse, Christina of Saxony .

Elisabeth had a strong ally in Elector John Frederick I of Saxony. When Eric I died on 30 July 1540, he helped her become co-regent of Brunswick-Calenberg-Göttingen, together with Philip I of Hesse, despite fierce resistance from Duke Henry II of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel.
