Madame Elizabeth Charlotte, Duchess of Orléans (born Princess Elizabeth Charlotte of the Palatinate, [1] German: Elisabeth Charlotte; 27 May 1652 – 8 December 1722), also known as Liselotte von der Pfalz, was a German member of the House of Wittelsbach who married into the French royal family.
Biography. Elizabeth Charlotte was the daughter of Frederick IV, Elector Palatine, and Louise Juliana of Orange-Nassau. Her brother Frederick became famous as the Elector-Palatine and "Winter King" of Bohemia . In 1616 Elizabeth Charlotte married George William, with whom she had three children.

Princess Elisabeth Charlotte [1] ( German: Prinzessin Elisabeth Charlotte von der Pfalz; known as Liselotte von der Pfalz, 27 May 1652 – 8 December 1722), was a German princess and the wife of Philippe of France, Duke of Orléans, younger brother of Louis XIV. She is best known for her vast correspondence detailing the court of her brother in law.
Elizabeth-Charlotte of Bavaria, often referred to as “Liselotte” or “La Palatine”, was a German princess of Protestant upbringing. In 1671 she married Monsieur, the King’s brother, and was obliged to convert to Catholicism. She took up residence in the Court and became an astute observer of goings-on at the palace.

Description. Elisabeth-Charlotte, Duchess of Orléans (1652-1722), was the daughter of Charles Louis, Count Palatine and Charlotte of Hesse-Kassel. She was brought up by her aunt, Duchess Sophie of Braunschweig-Lüneburg (Electress of Hanover and mother of George I).
