By birth she was a Pfalzprinzessin, a Princess of the Palatinate, by marriage she would become sister-in-law to the great Sun King and a Child of France. Élisabeth-Charlotte du Palatinat in 1713. Liselotte, as I shall call her, was the second child of Prince-Elector Karl I. Ludwig and his wife Charlotte von Hessen-Kassel.
Watch on. Elizabeth-Charlotte of Bavaria, often referred to as “Liselotte” or “La Palatine”, was a German princess of Protestant upbringing. In 1671 she married Monsieur, the King’s brother, and was obliged to convert to Catholicism. She took up residence in the Court and became an astute observer of goings-on at the palace.
Elisabeth Charlotte (1652 - 1722), called Liselotte of the Palatinate, was the eldest daughter of Elector Karl Ludwig of the Palatinate, and granddaughter of the so-called "Winter King". In 1671, for political reasons, she was married as the second wife to "Monsieur", Philip I (1640-1701) Duke of Orléans , Louis XIV's brother.
