Su intención era recabar el apoyo de éste para celebrar un matrimonio al que se oponían Carlos V y el papa Clemente VII. Ana triunfó totalmente: lució un fastuoso vestuario y llevó las joyas de las reinas de Inglaterra, arrancadas por la fuerza a Catalina.
