Hace 4 días · The manor then descended with Spaxton in the Waldegrave family, earls Waldegrave from 1729, until the death of George Edward, the 7th earl, in 1846. It then passed to his widow Frances, known despite later marriages as Countess Waldegrave, who sold parts of the estate in 1864 and 1867.
14 de may. de 2024 · In 1811, the House passed to Walpole’s great niece, Elizabeth Waldegrave, and then to her grandson, John Waldegrave. John died prematurely, passing the house to his brother, George, the Seventh Earl of Waldegrave. It was now that the House nearly met its demise.
Hace 4 días · Wytham School was founded by deed poll, 24 November 1858, and endowed by Frances Elizabeth Anne, Dowager Countess Waldegrave, who by her will, proved at London 25 August 1879, gave £1,000 towards the salary of the schoolmistress.
1 de may. de 2024 · Great 1842 Family Sale. After Horace Walpole died in 1797, he had no heirs so he left the house to his cousin’s daughter Anne Seymour Damer. Anne was a renowned sculptor of her time. It then passed to Elizabeth Waldegrave who made an expansion and then to her grandson John Waldegrave.
