Why did Baronness Ella van Heemstra (the mother of Audrey Hepburn) wholeheartedly believe London would easily get destroyed by the Nazi air bombings and the British doomed to defeat (which led her to transferring Audrey from London to Arnhem)?
Hace 6 días · And also Ella van Heemstra was not a high ranking officer in the RAF, so chances are she probably didn't know all that much about the capabilities of the RAF vis-a-vis the Luftwaffe. Edited to correct spelling.
4 de may. de 2024 · Audrey Hepburn was not only Hollywood royalty, but blue blood actually flowed through her veins. Her mother was the Dutch Baroness Ella van Heemstra. Her father, Anthony Ruston, only assumed to be noble. Since he believed to be a descendant of Duke James Hepburn, the third husband of Queen Maria Stuart, he changed his surname to Hepburn-Ruston.

4 de may. de 2024 · Her parents were indeed fascist sympathizers, with Matzen even calling Audrey’s mother, Ella van Heemstra, a fangirl and “Hitler-chaser” who managed to meet the Fuhrer face-to-face in the Nazis’ Munich headquarters in 1935. Not that Audrey was aware of any of this.
