Otto I, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg. Mother. Matilda of Brandenburg. Albert the Tall ( Latin: Albertus Longus, German: Albrecht der Große; 1236 – 15 August 1279), a member of the House of Welf, was Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg from 1252 and the first ruler of the newly created Principality of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel from 1269 until his death.

16 de feb. de 2024 · His son, Duke Eric II of Brunswick-Lüneburg, Prince of Calenberg-Göttingen, was still a child, which is why his mother, the Duchess Elisabeth, took over the reign for five years as Regent. When Duke Eric I died he left behind large debts, estimated at 900,000 thalers, as well as two important buildings: the Erichsburg near Dassel and the rebuilt Calenberg Castle.
Duke Francis of Brunswick-Lüneburg. Francis of Brunswick-Lüneburg (1508–1549) was the youngest son of Henry the Middle. Following a thirty-year joint reign of Brunswick-Lüneburg with his brother Ernest the Confessor, he ruled the newly founded Duchy of Gifhorn from Gifhorn Castle for over 10 years from 1539 until his death in 1549.

Anna Maria was the daughter of Duke Eric I of Brunswick-Calenberg (1470–1540) and Elizabeth of Brandenburg (1510–1558). She married in 1550 Margrave Albert I of Brandenburg-Ansbach (1490–1568), who had been created the first Duke of Prussia in 1525; she was his second wife. Albert died of the plague on 20 March 1568 at Tapiau Castle.
Roman Catholic. Eric II of Saxe-Lauenburg (1318/1320 – 1368) was a son of Duke Eric I of Saxe-Lauenburg and Elisabeth of Pomerania (*1291–after 16 October 1349*), daughter of Bogislaw IV, Duke of Pomerania. Eric II succeeded his father, after his resignation in 1338, as duke of Saxe-Ratzeburg-Lauenburg, a branch duchy of Saxe-Lauenburg.
