Anthony Evelyn Melbourne Ashley PC (24 July 1836 – 16 November 1907) was a British barrister and Liberal politician. He was private secretary to Lord Palmerston and later published a biography of him.
4 de jul. de 2016 · (Anthony) Evelyn Melbourne Ashley (1836–1907) was the fourth son of Anthony Ashley Cooper, seventh earl of Shaftesbury (1801–1885), and his wife, Emily (1810–1872). He was born in London on 24 July 1836 and was later educated at Harrow School and Trinity College, Cambridge.
Evelyn Ashley had been one of Palmerston's private secretaries and had, after the death of Lord Dalling in 1872, compled the official Life of Palmerston. Evelyn Ashley was succeeded in 1907 by his son Wilfrid (from 1932 Lord Mount Temple), who took a considerable interest in the archive adding to them by purchase.
