Farkas Bolyai (9 de febrero de 1775 - 20 de noviembre de 1856), también conocido como Wolfgang Bolyai en Alemania, fue un matemático húngaro, conocido sobre todo por su trabajo en geometría. Farkas Bolyai (Hungarian: [ˈfɒrkɒʃ ˈboːjɒi]; 9 February 1775 – 20 November 1856; also known as Wolfgang Bolyai in Germany) was a Hungarian mathematician, mainly known for his work in geometry.

The fortified castle of Bolya was given to the family in the early 14th century, but in the first half of the 17th century, another János Bolyai lost the castle while was he held captive in Turkey.
